Like all models in the Ford family, the Explorer puts an emphasis on performance. At Mac Haik Ford, we want you to know that you have two different powertrains, along with two drivetrains, to test out. One thing that remains consistent across the board is a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.
A 2.3L four-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged engine is considered the standard Explorer engine. This efficient engine manages to make 300-horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, more than most rivals can do with a V6. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option on the table.
Top trims have a twin-turbocharged V6 engine. For the King Ranch and Platinum models, it pumps out 365-horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. If you decide the performance-oriented Explorer ST is a better fit for your driving style, the V6 produces 400-horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.
